10 YEARS LATER
EL B swallowed the bitter taste in his mouth, he was surprised that what happened 10 years ago still had an effect on his emotions today. He was past all of that, or at least he thought he was. When the Beans were caught he had gotten away, not that Barbacoa had any proof they were plotting anything substantial. He had hid for a while, licked his wounds and emerged a man who wanted change, but wanted it the right way.
And the Chipotle campaign had been born, El B did extensive research on Chipotle (which included eating a lot of their burritos of course) and found a small following of people that were just as determined as he was to make sure everyone in Burrito Nation would have a chance to eat the marvelous food that Chipotle provided. He found farmers that made only the best ingredients and when he was ready presented his plan to Chipotle’s Board of Flavor. It helped that his family had provided only the best ingredients to them over the years, they were impressed with his vision and wanted him to immediately spread the good word.
Shortly after he began his journey he met La Guac, she was witty and fun and ready to take on the challenge of helping him with Chipotle. They worked tirelessly, side by side, never once getting romantic. It’s not that La Guac wasn’t good looking, with all that green he’s surprised he could control himself but completing their goal meant romance had to take a back seat and they were both okay with that. Plus remembering his crush on RawBean didn’t make him eager to “fall in love” anytime soon. So together they spread the word about Chipotle and the joy it brought so many people.
Thinking of RawBean made him think of his old friend Barbacoa, he had heard through the grapevine that they married and had two children of their own Jumping Bean and Barbicoa. And little Babycoa on the way! His old friend had done well for himself and El B surprised himself when he realized he was truly happy for his friend. He really wished there was some way for them to reconnect.
El B’s latest scandal with QDoba had landed him on the front page of every newspaper across the Nation. He’d built such a large following with Chipotle, he wanted the people to know his side of the story but would they listen?? Then an idea occurred to him. Barbacoa’s political career was going well, with someone like Barbacoa on his side, the people would listen to what he had to say. The one problem: they were no longer friends, he had screwed that up years ago….he sighed….but the people of Burrito Nation deserved to know the truth. Since Barbacoa was running for president, he wouldn’t want to align himself with a scandal like Qdoba but El B would risk it, it was worth it, Chipotle was worth it.
He picked up his phone to ring his assistant “Yeah Con Queso, get me the number for Senator Barbacoa….”

INTEL - PART TWO
She felt awful, how did she let this happen? She was a seasoned soldier and a great undercover agent, she had always completed her missions quickly and efficiently with the expected result every time. But this time it was different and it frustrated her. Her job was to seduce him, gain information, report it back to base and complete the mission, in the beginning everything went according to plan. El Barbacoa was unable to resist her but as time went on she found that she couldn’t resist him. He was so full of life, so smooth and he had these ideas for Burrito Nation that made her hope. She hadn’t had hope in years…
Then there was El B, so focused and driven his excitement was contagious and she felt herself wanting to follow him. But there was something off about him, it was like he was at war with himself. He would go on and on about how the government was unfair to its people and how change needed to be made no matter how radical the change was but then he would be traditional and protective and she could tell he wanted to do the right thing. He was tightly wrapped and she could tell he needed to unwind. It scared her how bad he wanted Barbacoa out of office, through the grapevine she heard that they had once been friends, if that was true then where did all the hostility come from? She wasn’t sure his motives weren’t personal…
Barbacoa stepped into the room making her smile, she always smiled when they were together, she couldn’t help herself, she was a bean and he was a marinade, it only made sense. But time was running out, even though she had been inconclusive in her reports the Beans, they and others were planning to strike today and she was still torn between completing her mission and saving the one that held her heart.
“Barbacoa, I’ve been needing to talk to you” she said strolling towards him he had a pained look on his face that made her stop. “What is it?” she asked.
He just stared at her and slowly shook his head. “I’m a fool” he said quietly.
A chill ran down her bean, she had been expecting this moment for weeks now but she still asked “What do you mean? You are smart, but you are no fool”
“I was a fool to fall for you, to believe that you loved me” he looked at her, betrayal in his eyes. “How could you do this to me?” he asked with outstretched saucy hands.
She rushed to him “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about, El B and the Beans, they mean you harm! They- he cut her off
“I know everything, what I don’t know is why you are telling me now, if you are on their side, why are you telling me now??” he yelled
She stared at him, tears in her eyes “You were just a target at the beginning but over the last few months something changed, I found myself missing you, the sound of your voice, the touch of your liquidy skin. I….fell….for you too” she admitted, knowing she meant every word. “I love you Barbacoa and I want you to be safe, please believe me”
Barbacoa didn’t know what to do, first finding out his best friend was plotting against him and then finding out that the bean he loved was part of that plot. It was all too much! But her words rang true and he did love her, a lot. He opened his arms and she rushed into his embrace. He whispered in her ear “Everything’s going to be okay”

INTEL – PART ONE
They were best friends, had been for quite some time. El B and Barabcoa against the world! They were tighter than any blood brothers could ever be and they had each other’s back when things got rough. It seems nothing could test their friendship…nothing until now. El B stared out the window pondering his next move. His friend was supposed to fight the good fight but instead he had jumped to the other side, the WRONG side. They had always talked about changing the world, making things right for the residents of Burrito Nation. Well El B had found their chance, the local government needed to be overthrown, new leadership needed to be set in place so that real change could happen.
He had met for months, every week with his activist group, planning and plotting. Barbacoa had gone along with him at first, all full of righteousness, excited about making a difference but one day that all changed. Barbacoa had come to him with talk of doing things the “right way”. That working with the government and not against them would have a bigger impact on the people of the land, and then he had run for Mayor and won. I’ll show him thought El B. He checked the clock and hurried out the door to his meeting.
He arrived 10 minutes later, it was a dark abandoned warehouse. All the beans were there, he was surprised he had recruited the Beans, they were usually a neutral party but it looks as if they have their own agenda to seeing Barbacoa out of office. Pinto Bean was their leader, ColumBEANa was a fresh face but the one who almost always had his attention was RawBean, she was like no one he’d ever met. Full of fire and purpose he couldn’t help but be attracted to her raw determination to see the mission through to completion, of all the Beans, El B knew she’d be their most powerful weapon, he also knew that one day RawBean would be his alone. She was the perfect mate for him and he would have her. It was her job to seduce Barbacoa and El B knew he’d be useless to resist her charm. She was the key to their plan.
The meeting began, final plans were in place, they would all meet back in 3 months for a progress update.
THREE MONTHS LATER
El B was so furious he was seeing red. After four weeks of watching her work her magic he was having doubts about her loyalty. RawBean was undercover, he goal was to seduce the enemy and learn all the information she could that would benefit their cause and help them pull down the government. But he’d been watching them closely and he wasn’t sure she knew her role anymore. I mean it was no problem staging an “accidental meeting” between her and Barbacoa and just as expected he was instantly charmed by her and began to pursue her. RawBean played hard to get at first, as was the plan, but eventually relented and let him woo her. They spent a lot of time together and her reports were detailed and helpful but over the months her reports came less and when they did come they were vague and elusive.
This could only mean that either Barbacoa had found out their plan and was having RawBean continue reporting though the jig was up, or that RawBean had truly fallen for Barbacoa. El B shook his head. NO! She’s mine! He thought heatedly. They had developed a rapport over the last few months when she reported in, it had bordered on flirting and El B read the signals loud and clear, but now…..now things were different….

Redemption
El B looked at the building with growing apprehension. When was the time he’d come to pray? Was it that time the corn harvest was almost wiped out by hurricanes and Chipotle almost ran out of chips and tortillas? Or was it when Pico de Gallo had gone into a coma after saving Friday orders? He couldn’t remember but he knew it was high time he confessed. He stepped into the building and let out a sigh of relief. He was now in Churchpotle, a place of peace, he would find redemption here.
“May I help you child” came a voice behind him, he turned to face her.
“Sister Mary-Nade, how are you?” he asked the older nun. Sister Mary Nade was famous for her cooked in flavor, eating a Chipotle item with one of her simmering meats was almost a religious experience, and because of that people came to her to bare their souls and find redemption.
“Why, El B, it’s been a long time, what’s on your mind?” she led him to a pew and they sat down.
El B cleared his throat, preparing himself for the worst he began his confession “Sister Mary-Nade, I’m sure you’ve read the stories, heard what people in Burrito Nation are saying about me. I’ve come to tell you myself that it’s true. I did in fact go to Qdoba for a burrito…and….and I enjoyed it too”
Sister Mary-Nade bowed her head and made the sign of the crisp, El B braced himself for what she would say. But she surprised him by putting a saucy hand on his shoulder. “Ah El B, back when I was a young sauce, your actions would be cause for alarm, but we live in modern times. I’m not saying a burrito is a burrito wherever it comes from because we all know Chipotle burritos clearly out taste all others. But the people of Burrito Nation are spoiled having Chipotle readily available almost everywhere, they easily forget that Chipotle has yet to put locations in a few places and from what I’ve heard you’ve recently moved to just such a place.”
El B nodded sheepishly, he was so embarrassed. “I’ve tried to stay true, nothing compares to Chipotle, but I was so hungry…and it was so good….” he trailed off.
“I understand my child, but you must know that you’ve started a great following with Chipotle and with that comes a great responsibility to remain loyal to who made you who you are. You must address the people’s concerns for they are feeling betrayed and abandoned by someone they’ve come to think of as their leader. You must make this right and when you do, you shall be truly forgiven” she took his silver wrapped hand in hers and made another sign of the crisp “Bless you and good luck on your journey”
“Thank you Sister Mary-Nade, I think it’s time I made things right.” He waved to her as he made his way back up the aisle to the door. He opened the door and stood there with the sunlight on his face and knew he had a mission.
